All of the acronyms that were given made it very confusing. At the beginning, it looked like it was going to be somewhat interesting but as i read on, I started to get lost in all of the information that was given. The title of the reading and the itroduction was sort of mis leading to what it was really about. Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a Comment »ĭogs Snarling Together by Pietra Rivoli was not what I expected it to be. If people think that this will make the world better they are wrong, this will simply destroy human race. It is really messed up and i think anyone who believes in this or is for this is very naive. Its pretty much not even a real human, its made in a lab, not by humans. Just the sound of that sounds just wrong. Artificial babies, people want to make artificial babies. What is wrong with our world? In the reading Scott states “this move from bedroom to labratory conception is one that future humans are unlikely ever to reverse, because they willl not want to discard the benefits residing on their artificial chrosomes.” I think that the whole reading is summed up in the last 2 words of that quote. It is basically the same thing, it is trying to control human race, but in the sense of intellegience and athletic ability etc.

Doesnt Hitler trying to control the human race through the holocaust sound familiar?” I agree with this statement and i also thought of this as i read the introduction. In Carrie Feenstras blog she states “After reading the essay a very tragic event popped in my mind with relation. I think that so many better things can be done with our intelligience and technology in this world than custom making babies and messing with fate. “Custom made babies.” Look what our world has come to. Pretty soon, people can start buying babies on the internet. Who knows, if this happens then normal somewhat smart people like us could be considered mentally retarded because everyone else in the world is so much smarter just because there parents got to hand pick there traits and pick who there kid was going to be essentially.

Also, it would make the people who are “average” in an intelligent way drop to below average. What would be the point of going to law school or medical school, what would be the point in trying to do good in school everyone in the world would be geniuses. This itself would ruin any competition of good jobs. If people could choose how smart there kids were they would obvioously make them as intelligent as they could be. I think that it would destroy human race not make it better. In my opinion and i know that it is the opinion of many other people just by reading the blogs, it is very unnatural and wrong. It states both sides of the matter but Scott is clearly for this issue and is trying to manipulate people into thinking that it is right, and the world would be a better place with it. I also think that it was meant to be persuasive and not just imformative. The Enhanced and The Unenhanced by Gregory Scott was a good read in my opinion. im not sure what i am going to write my paper on but i do find this class anthology interesting. It is hard because they are writing about the same stuff that we read so the only thing to talk about is the different views that people have. Although i found it interesting to read everyones essays, i found it sort of hard to write about. Keiths mcormicks essay also made a lot of sense to me how he compared ants and humans and how complex they are.

After all it is there views and the way that they feel about certain things. I also think that you can tell a lot about a person by what they write about. If this whole anthology was put together with no names it could be a book with so many different views on life. Many students probably werent interested in the things that we read but i myself found most of the stuff we read very interesting. I think that communicating is hard especiallly if you are not interested in the subject. I also liked amanda kellys essay and how straight forward she was. All of her quotes really back up what she is trying to say. She used a lot of quotes from Malcom Gladwells essay which i think is perfect for her essay. She talked about a persons character and personality and how it is formed. It was very interesting to read our class mates essays and their ideas and views on the same stuff that each of us read. I think that putting together a course anthology was a good idea.
